Youth Leadership Training
URSW provides leadership skills training to youth in the refugee community. The five-week program includes training and mentoring in public speaking, facilitating workshops and meetings using Roberts Rules, community leadership skills, time management, and effective communication with peers and parents. Youth who undergo this training are then provided opportunities to use their new-found skills to serve on Advisory Boards, and to organize and plan workshops, meetings, and community events.

After 33 hours of training, a Certification of Completion was awarded to each student. There are two groups total of 20 students per year. After the completion of the training, the two groups form together a Youth Leadership Committee. The Committee meet monthly to discuss issues affecting youth and ways to help other youth and youth at risk.
