Services for Senior Citizens

Elderly Southeast Asian Refugee Program
This program provides a weekly seniors mealtime with educational programming as well as outreach services to elderly members of the refugee community. Funding for this program is provided by the Office of Refugee Services.

Seniors from the Southeast Asian community in Madison meet every Thursday night for a meal of authentic Thai or Hmong cuisine, and to have fun together.

URSW also plans field trips to places of interest, and other life-enrichment activities. Last year, one of the highlights was a boat trip on Lakes Monona and Mendota. For many of the seniors, this was their first boat trip in a very long time—since crossing the Mekong River as refugees, during the Vietnam conflict.

Food Pantry

A monthly food pantry service provides many seniors from the community with supplemental food supplies.
